Infrared Sauna in

the heart of Yarraville

Not all heat is created equal. Unlike traditional saunas that heat the air around you, infrared saunas work by warming the body directly — penetrating deeper into muscle tissue, triggering a more intense sweat at a lower, more comfortable temperature. The result is a profoundly therapeutic experience that detoxifies, recovers and restores in ways that go well beyond a standard sweat session.

At Tally Floathouse in Yarraville, our infrared sauna is available as a standalone session or combined with a float for the ultimate full-body reset.

What is infrared sauna therapy?

Infrared saunas use infrared light wavelengths to heat the body from within rather than heating the surrounding air. Where a traditional sauna operates at 80–100°C, an infrared sauna delivers its benefits at 45–60°C — a temperature that's far more tolerable for most people and allows for longer, more comfortable sessions.

The lower ambient temperature means you can stay in longer, breathe comfortably, and experience the therapeutic effects more deeply. The sweat produced in an infrared sauna is also different — research suggests it contains a higher concentration of toxins, heavy metals and metabolic waste than sweat produced through exercise or traditional heat exposure.

Six reasons Yarraville comes to Tally for infrared sauna

Detoxification

Infrared heat stimulates a deep, cellular sweat that helps the body eliminate toxins, heavy metals and environmental pollutants through the skin. Regular infrared sauna sessions support the body's natural detoxification pathways in a way that exercise-induced sweating alone doesn't achieve.

Muscle recovery and pain relief

Infrared heat penetrates up to 4cm into muscle tissue — significantly deeper than surface heat from a hot shower or heat pack. This depth of penetration increases circulation, reduces inflammation, and accelerates the repair of muscle tissue damaged through training or chronic pain conditions. Athletes use it for post-training recovery. People managing fibromyalgia, arthritis and chronic back pain use it for ongoing relief.

Skin health

The deep sweat stimulated by infrared heat clears pores of impurities and increases circulation to the skin's surface, delivering nutrients and oxygen that support collagen production, tone and clarity. Many regular sauna users report noticeable improvements in skin texture and radiance within weeks of consistent sessions.

Cardiovascular health

Sitting in an infrared sauna produces a cardiovascular response similar to moderate exercise — heart rate increases, blood vessels dilate, and circulation improves. Research has linked regular infrared sauna use to reduced blood pressure, improved arterial compliance, and better overall cardiovascular function.

Stress and cortisol reduction

Heat exposure activates the parasympathetic nervous system — the same rest-and-recovery system targeted by float therapy. Cortisol drops, muscle tension releases, and the body shifts into a state of genuine rest. Clients who combine a sauna session with a float describe the combined effect as significantly deeper than either experience alone.

Weight management support

The cardiovascular effort of an infrared sauna session burns calories and supports metabolic function. While not a substitute for exercise, regular infrared sauna use has been associated with modest support for weight management goals, particularly when combined with an active lifestyle.

Combine sauna and float for the ultimate reset.

Many of our clients come to Tally for both — and for good reason. The sauna opens the body up. The float takes it somewhere deeper. Together, they deliver a level of physical and mental restoration that neither experience achieves alone.

We recommend doing your sauna before your float. The heat relaxes muscles and elevates your core temperature, so that when you enter the float pod your body is already primed to release — and the transition into deep relaxation happens faster.

What to expect at your first infrared sauna session

Before you arrive

Drink plenty of water before your session — hydration makes a significant difference to how you feel during and after. Avoid eating a heavy meal immediately beforehand.

During your session

The sauna will feel warm but comfortable — significantly less intense than a traditional steam sauna. Most people find they can relax fully, have a conversation, or simply sit quietly and let the heat do its work. You'll begin sweating within the first 10-15 minutes. By the midpoint, the sweat deepens and the muscular release becomes noticeable.

After your session

Shower facilities are available to rinse off before you settle into our relaxation lounge with complimentary herbal tea. Most clients describe the post-sauna feeling as similar to the afterglow of a good workout — a clean, relaxed heaviness that carries through the rest of the day.
