Float therapy for chronic pain relief in Yarraville.
Chronic pain is exhausting in a way that's difficult to explain to anyone who hasn't experienced it. It's not just the pain itself — it's the constant weight of managing it, the disrupted sleep, the tension the body holds in response, and the mental load that comes with it all. Many guests come to Tally Floathouse specifically because they're looking for relief that goes beyond what their usual routine can offer.

Why zero gravity makes a difference for chronic pain.
Most chronic pain — whether it's lower back pain, fibromyalgia, arthritis, joint pain or tension headaches — is significantly influenced by two things: gravitational load and nervous system sensitisation.
Gravity is constant. Every moment of every day the spine, hips, joints and surrounding musculature are working against it. Rest helps, but even lying in bed doesn't fully remove that load. In a float tank, it does.
The 500kg of Epsom salt dissolved in each float pod creates buoyancy so complete that the body floats effortlessly on the surface. Every joint decompresses simultaneously. Connective tissue, tendons and discs that have been under constant load get a genuine rest that isn't available anywhere else.
At the same time, with no light, no sound and water held at skin temperature, the nervous system receives a rare signal: there is nothing to respond to. The threat-monitoring loop that chronic pain keeps activated begins to quiet. For many guests, this combination — physical decompression and nervous system rest — produces a quality of relief that other approaches haven't reached.
Types of pain guests commonly bring to Tally.
Based on what our guests share with us, float therapy is commonly used for:
Lower back pain and disc-related pain
Fibromyalgia and widespread muscle pain
Arthritis and joint inflammation
Tension headaches and migraines
Neck and shoulder tension
Post-injury recovery and rehabilitation support
Sciatica and nerve-related pain
General muscular soreness and fatigue
Float therapy is not a medical treatment and we always recommend working alongside your GP, physio or specialist for any diagnosed condition. Many guests find floating works well as a complement to their existing treatment — providing relief and recovery support between appointments.

What the Epsom salt does.
The solution in each float pod is magnesium sulphate — Epsom salt. During your session, magnesium is absorbed through the skin. Magnesium plays a role in muscle function, inflammation regulation and nervous system activity — all of which are directly relevant to chronic pain management.
Many guests who float regularly as part of an ongoing pain management routine mention the magnesium absorption as one of the key reasons they keep coming back — alongside the weightlessness itself.
Combining float therapy with infrared sauna for pain relief.
Our infrared sauna is a natural complement to float therapy for guests managing chronic pain. Infrared heat penetrates deep into muscle tissue — increasing circulation and warming muscles from within at a comfortable 45–60°C. Many guests use the sauna before their float: the heat loosens tight tissue and increases circulation, so the body arrives at the float pod already warmed and more receptive to deep release.
Our 30 Minute Infrared Sauna & 60 Minute Float combo ($99) is popular with guests specifically managing physical pain and tension.
Please note: your booked time is for your float. Arrive 40 minutes early for your sauna.

What a session looks like at Tally Floathouse.
Arrive
We recommend arriving 10–15 minutes before your session. For first-time guests, we walk you through everything at your own pace. There is nothing to figure out.
Float
60 or 90 minutes in a private float suite. Most guests managing chronic pain find the 90 minute session gives more time for the body to fully release — the deeper physical relief tends to come in the second half of the session, once the nervous system has settled.
After your session
Our relaxation lounge is included with every session. Complimentary herbal tea, quiet space, no rush. The post-float state — a particular quality of physical lightness and mental calm — is worth protecting. Take your time before heading back out.
